Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's learning objectives

One of the objectives of the course is the development of solid training in research and ethics, with a strong application component in Social Gerontology. Thus, the contents focus on concepts related to the theoretical foundations of the research and research process applied to the scientific area. The study of research-action methodologies will be used, so that students develop the skills necessary to build innovative research protocols. The approach to the problems of the project methodology that constitutes the practice of social intervention as an object of knowledge, allows students to make the integrated application of acquired knowledge and skills to situations in which they are involved in some structures of social reality.

Literature Notes

Learning Methods

The classes will have a predominantly interrogative character, with a problematizing character and an emphasis on reflection and critical analysis of the themes contained in the CU¿s program. Thus, the CU works with theoretical-practical work sessions, using expository methodologies, supported by conventional and multimedia elements, and with more practical sessions of extended discussion of texts and document analysis (e.g., practical problems, analysis review of articles). Some classes will have the presence of guests to expound on themes and respective methodological approaches (e.g., Master's ex-students).Assessment plan: elaboration of a work that reflects the state of the art of an emerging topic in the field of Social Gerontology and that is of interest to students, which constitutes a first reference proposal for methodological issues ¿as starting point to the development of the final master's work.

Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The contents of this UC emphasize concepts related to the theoretical foundations of the research process and applied research to the scientific area. These approaches allow to:- develop critical reasoning and analysis of scientific articles;- understand how to select designs and research methods;- integrate the project methodology, mainly concerned with the development of skills to know how to think about social intervention in the field of social gerontology;- the mobilization of the students' experience of social intervention, resulting from a work process in contact with former students and researchers;- the launching of the bases of the students' work in the elaboration of the work, to be carried out in the 3rd semester of the Master's.
